Combat Displays 42" Tactical Display Tables Completed

Annapolis, MD (October 18, 2011)

Combat Displays Inc. (CDI) has announced the successful fabrication, factory acceptance testing, and delivery of two 42" (diagonal) Digital Dead Reckoning Tactical Table prototype units. CDI designed and developed these large scale tactical displays for its customer to answer the need for a collaborative decision aide that can be used by military or law enforcement Command and Control Centers. The Tactical Tables are a logical extension of CDI's company product line that is built around a common set of modular, solid state components which include a Light Emitting Diode (LED) light engine, proprietary optics, and electronics.

CDI's expert design resulted in improvements in reliability, maintainability and ruggedness as well as lower electrical load that decreased associated cooling and heating requirements. The delivered products were designed to be disassembled into two main components that can be easily hand carried through standard ship hatches. The total weight of each fully installed table is 290 pounds, which is about one-third the weight of competing products . An additional feature is the anticipated reduction in Total Ownership Cost (rTOC) for the customer, which would be significant, when compared to other consumer electronics based technology used today.

In the next phase of testing, the Tactical Table will undergo Mil STD testing for both environmental and electromagnetic testing as well as MIL STD-901D shock testing. MIL STD-901D is the military's specification for "Grade A" high Impact mechanical shock for electrical equipment mounted on ships.
